China is preparing to send its first civilian astronaut to the Tiangong space station, which is being built in Earth orbit. Gui Haichao, a civilian astronaut, is preparing to go into space from the Jiquan Space Center in northwestern China.
Gui Haichao is an engineer. So far, China has sent only astronauts trained by the Chinese military associated with the China Space Agency. Two other astronauts join Gui Haichao on this journey. The leader of the space mission is Jing Hepiang. The third astronaut is also an engineer. His name is Zhu Yangzhu. (Reuters)
