The annual ‘Army Road Race,’ organised for the 58th consecutive time, began at the entrance of the Army Headquarters on 16 February 2025. The marathon, spanning approximately 22 km from Battaramulla to the Panagoda Army Cantonment, attracted 111 participants from 21 regiments, including 22 female runners.
The Sri Lanka Artillery secured the overall men’s championship, while the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps claimed the overall women’s championship.
The event was graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo , along with the Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General A.H.L.G. Amarapala , the Adjutant General, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletics Committee, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne .
