After the main earthquakes, Turkey and Syria have been shaken by 120 aftershocks, geologists point out. It is also said to have been shaken by an aftershock with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale last time.
Turkey and Syria are neighbouring states, located between two tectonic plates, above. Earthquakes are created when these tectonic plates collide with each other.
