Due to the rain received yesterday (03) in the Deduru Oya catchment areas, this Reservoir has once again exceeded the overflow level. That’s why 05 sluice gates of 04 feet each were opened in the reservoir from early morning today (04), said Mr Sampath Samarajeeva, Reservoir Irrigation Engineer.
The engineer said that due to the opening of the 05 sluice gates, a water volume of 13800 cubic feet per second will be released from the Reservoir to the Deduru Oya.
Although this situation is not a flood situation for the lower areas, the Irrigation Engineering Office tells the residents of the Deduru Oya lower basin to be careful regarding the future rain situation.
