The National Dengue Control Unit says that an increase in dengue cases can be expected within a month. According to this, 09 dengue deaths have been reported during this period. Still, the necessary measures should be taken to control the spread of the disease to a high epidemic level, said Dr Sudath Samaraweera, director of the National Dengue Control Unit.
Najith Sumanasena, President of the Association of Health Entomology Officers, stated that due to the bad weather conditions that have affected the island, all the anti-dengue programs that had been organized had to be postponed.
