At the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Sri Lanka was overwhelmingly selected to serve as vice president.
Mohan Peiris, Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the UN, will therefore fill the suitable position for the Asia-Pacific area from September 2023 to September 2024.
In addition to the Netherlands, Morocco, Bolivia, Congo, Estonia, Gambia, Iceland, Malaysia, Iran, Senegal, Singapore, Suriname, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Zambia are among the 21 Vice Presidents who were chosen for the 78th UNGA session, which will be held from September 12 to 25.
