Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the war front in the country’s Bakhmut city, met with Ukrainian soldiers fighting with Russian forces and presented them with medals of valour.

The country’s media has reported that for the past five months, there have been fierce armed clashes between the Ukrainian forces and the Russian forces in the city of Bakhmut.

The awarding of medals took place in appreciation of the heroism of the Ukrainian soldiers. Bakhmut city is a major city in Donetsk province.

The Ukrainian media has further reported that Ukrainian President Zelensky was shocked to see the great destruction caused to the city of Bakhmut due to the Russian attacks.

Ukrainian soldiers on the war front in Bakhmut city are attacking Russian troops with weapons received as aid from Western countries including the United States.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his army is having trouble fighting Ukrainian forces armed with Western weapons. The Russian President recently went to Minsk in the neighbouring state of Belarus and met with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko is a close friend of the Russian citizen, Putin. Putin visited Belarus and met with Alexander Lukashenko 3 years later. Putin’s aim was to ask for help to end the war in Ukraine. (Reuters)
