Two people have died and 80 others have been injured in a stampede during a football match.

The interior minister of southern Iraq mentioned that this stampede took place during the final match between Iraq and Oman in the Arab Gulf Cup.

Iraq had competed against Oman in the finals of the eight-nation football tournament.

Thousands of people tried to enter the stadium to watch the match, but the stadium was only open to those with tickets, foreign media reported.

Foreign media reports that thousands of sports fans without tickets have gathered outside the Basra International Stadium and they have been trampled when they tried to enter the stadium from the left. (Neth Gossip)
