The Department of Meteorology says that a turbulent nature is developing in the lower atmosphere near Sri Lanka.

Due to that, the department said that the rain condition on the island is expected to increase in the next few days from today onwards.

Occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in northern, eastern and north-central provinces, while scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in other areas during the evening or night.

There is a possibility of heavy rain of about 100 mm in some places in Northern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts.

The Department of Meteorology requests that people take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
