The Department of Meteorology says that in many parts of the island today (27th) after 2.00 pm there may be scattered rain or thundershowers. The department stated that some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-West provinces and Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 75 mm.
There is a possibility of rain in the morning in the Eastern Province and the coastal areas of the Southern Province. The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
