The Department of Meteorology says that there will be several periods of rain in Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
The department stated that scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-Western provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts in the evening or at night.
Some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and Ampara district may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
