The Department of Meteorology says that the Northeast Monsoon is gradually establishing itself over the island.
The department states that there may be occasional rains in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces, while in the Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts there may be scattered showers or thundershowers in the evening or at night.
Some places in North, East and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa and Matale districts received mm. A slight chance of heavy showers over 50.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
