Today (01) the Department of Meteorology announces that a slight increase in rain conditions can be expected in the southwestern part of the island.
It is stated in the announcement that Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts may experience rain from time to time, some places will receive heavy rains of around 75mm.
There may be some rains in the North-West Province and in Uva Province and Ampara District, there may be rain or thundershowers at a few places in the evening or at night.
The statement issued by the Department of Meteorology further stated that on the western slopes of the central hills and in the northern, north-central and southern provinces and in the district of Trincomalee, strong winds of around 50 per km are possible.
