Today (01), the Department of Meteorology says that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces. The department stated that some places in Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm and several rains may occur in the North-West Province.
In certain locations in the evening or at night, the Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces may encounter rain or thundershowers. The Department of Meteorology asks citizens to take the required precautions to lessen the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
