The Engineers Society of Ceylon Electricity Board says that the risk of 8-hour power cuts has not decreased in any way.

Accordingly, if there is a shortage of fuel and coal, the situation could be worse than in the first half of 2022, said its chairman Nihal Weeraratne.

He further stated that due to the significant rainfall in the last few days, the threat of a 10-hour power cut from January 1, which was previously mentioned by the Electrical Engineers Association, has disappeared.
