Liz Truss is the UK’s shortest-serving leader and has been in office for about six weeks.
In a special statement, she further mentioned that the mandate elected by the Conservative Party cannot be given.
Another Conservative leadership election is scheduled to be held within a week, and the King has also been informed of his resignation.
