Dr Shafi Shihabdeen resumed work as the Senior Officer of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital yesterday (30). The Health Service Committee of the Public Service Commission had also sent a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health asking that the doctor be reassigned to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

Dr Shafi Shihabdeen had to stay out of work for 4 years after being accused of blocking the fallopian tubes and making mothers sterile during caesarean section. The relevant article shows that the allegations have not been proved by oral and written evidence.
