The Committee on Parliamentary Business, which met today (22 July) under the chairmanship of Hon. Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, has decided not to proceed with the second reading of the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill, originally scheduled for debate on 24 July, Secretary General of Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera said. The debate on the Bill will be rescheduled to a future parliamentary date.
Accordingly, the Adjournment Debate on the “Proposed New Education Reforms” will be held on 24 July, continuing until 5.30 p.m., based on a motion presented by the government. This decision has been taken due to technical matter related to the Sri Lanka Electricity (Amendment) Bill and the Bill is scheduled to be debated on a future parliamentary day after the relevant matters are completed.
