The cabinet has approved the issuance of a digital driving license instead of the current driving license.
Accordingly, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that a digital driver’s license with a QR code will be introduced in the near future instead of the existing driver’s license with a chip.
The Minister further stated that the related information will be forwarded to the technical departments and other expert committees, a comprehensive study will be conducted on the conditions that may arise in the relevant implementation, and a driver’s license with modern digital technology will be issued.
