The Paddy Marketing Board has decided to introduce a new variety of rice to the market to meet the demand for Nadu rice from consumers in Sri Lanka.
Its president, Buddhika Iddamalgoda, mentioned that the Red Kekulu will be converted into Nadu and released in the market under the name of golden rice.
Budhika Iddamalgoda, chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board added that 37 paddy warehouses have been opened all over the island to buy paddy, but paddy is still being received only from the districts of Hambantota, Ampara and Monaragala.
