An epidemic of “Listeria” bacteria has been reported in America. Health officials say that 13 infected people have been reported from 6 states in America and one person has died.
Infected people are reported from major cities in Maryland, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York.
The death is reported by the state of Maryland. It is also seen in a statement issued by the health department that a pregnant woman infected with ‘listeria’ in the state of Maryland lost her child.
The United States Epidemiological Disease Control Unit has now revealed that the spread of “Listeria” bacteria has occurred through cheese and meat products sold through animal food stores.
Listeriosis is a disease caused by infection with the bacteria “Listeria”. Doctors explain that the cause of ‘Listeriosis‘ is eating unclean food.
Americans eat a lot of meat. On average, about 1,600 cases of listeriosis are reported annually, and about 260 patients die each year, according to the US Epidemiological Control Unit.
Even so, the American Epidemiological Disease Control Unit has explained that there has been an extraordinary increase in cases of listeriosis across the United States, and special attention has been paid to it. That is why it has been declared an epidemic situation.
Doctors say that if Listeria bacteria infect a healthy person, that person can be cured with or without antibiotics, but for a person with low immunity, Listeria bacteria can be fatal.
Listeria bacteria are said to be fatal for pregnant women and the elderly. Fever, unconsciousness, fatigue, and muscle pain are symptoms of Listeriosis. (BBC)
